The short answer
Branding in the UK costs roughly £500 to £50,000. What you pay depends on how much thinking comes with the design.
| What you buy | Typical UK price |
|---|---|
| Logo only | £500 to £3,000 |
| Starter identity (logo, colours, fonts, basic rules) | £1,500 to £5,000 |
| Full brand identity with positioning | £8,000 to £25,000 |
| Full rebrand with strategy and rollout | £5,000 to £30,000 |
Need a logo, or a whole brand? Got a quote that looks high and no idea if it is fair?
Branding cost in the UK is hard to pin down. Almost every price you find online sits on an agency's own sales page.
This guide puts the published bands side by side. It says where they disagree, and what actually moves your number.
A logo on its own
Whito's UK research puts a professional small-business logo at £500 to £3,000.
You can pay less. Specialist online providers start near £129. At that price you are buying a drawing, not a decision.
A logo alone rarely fixes anything. It is the cheapest part of branding and the part people argue about most.
A starter identity
This is the common small-business buy. Logo, colours, fonts, and a short set of rules.
Published UK guides cluster this around £1,500 to £5,000. Some put a basic identity package nearer £2,500 to £5,000.
At this level you get a brand that looks consistent. You do not usually get the thinking about who you sell to.
A full brand identity
Here you pay for the strategy work too. Positioning, messaging, a proper guidelines document.
One UK guide puts a full strategic brand identity at £8,000 to £25,000.
That jump is not design hours. It is research, decisions, and someone writing them down so your team can follow them.
A full rebrand
A rebrand touches everything you have already built. Signage, site, decks, packaging, social.
UK guides put a full rebrand at £5,000 to £30,000. Larger organisations can pay £50,000 to £100,000 or more.
London sits higher. One London agency publishes a range of £35,000 to £100,000 plus for strategy-led work with rollout support.
What actually moves your number
Five things, in order of impact.
- How many decisions the agency has to make for you. A clear brief is cheaper than a blank page.
- How many places the brand has to work. A website is one. A shop, a van and a uniform is four.
- Whether you need research. Customer interviews cost time.
- Who does the work. Published UK agency rates run about £100 to £200 an hour.
- Where they are. London quotes run above the national figures.
The cost nobody quotes you
Trade mark registration is separate, and most branding quotes leave it out.
Registering a UK trade mark costs at least £205, and more if you protect several types of goods or services.
Budget for it before you fall in love with a name.
Read these prices carefully
Almost every figure above comes from an agency's own marketing page. Agencies publish the range that makes their pricing look sensible.
So treat them as a guide, not a market rate. The reliable check is boring. Write a one-page brief. Send it to three or four firms. Compare what comes back.
If the quotes differ by a factor of five, the brief was not clear enough.
The bottom line
UK branding runs from about £500 for a logo to £30,000 or more for a rebrand with strategy behind it. The gap is thinking, not drawing.
Published prices come from sales pages, so get three or four quotes against one written brief. Add at least £205 for a trade mark if the name is new.
Got a quote you are unsure about? Drop it in the comments and say what it covers.
Expect £1,500 to £5,000 for a small-business identity, and £8,000 upwards once strategy comes with it.
